Age Guidelines for Preschool

• PreK-2 students must be two (2) years of age on or before September 1st.
• PreK-3 students must be three (3) years of age on or before September 1st and must be fully potty trained.
• PreK-4/VPK students must be four (4) years of age on or before September 1st.

 PreK Curriculum

St. Malachy PreK students participate in The Creative Curriculum, a research-based curriculum for early childhood. It's designed to help children develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills. As children participate, they naturally grow in all areas of development, including social-emotional, physical, language and cognitive development. The Creative Curriculum excels in these important areas:

• Project-based learning: Children apply skills through hands-on investigations 
• Interest areas: Activities focus on blocks, dramatic play, art, music, and more
• Balanced learning: Combines teacher-directed and child-initiated learning
• Assessment: Includes a developmental continuum for ages 3–5
• Family engagement: Includes tools to help teachers connect families to their children's learning
• Support for teachers: Includes details on child development, classroom organization, and teaching strategies
