Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

When dropping off or picking up students, parents and guardians must follow these procedures:

1. Traveling north on University Drive, turn right into the first parish parking lot entrance.
2. When you reach the parish hall, turn right (John Horan Terrace).
3. Leave your student with a Safety Monitor who will escort them into the school building.

• DO NOT drop off your student until you are near a Safety Monitor.
• DO NOT drop off your student on 61st Street or University Drive.
• Students arriving after school has begun for the day may be dropped off at the main entrance using the driveway on 61st Street.

1. After school, enter and exit as you would during drop-off.

• Beginning 15 minutes after the last bell, parents may pick up students at the main entrance using the driveway on 61st Street.

Visiting the School Building

Visitors to St. Malachy School must enter through the main entrance on 61st Street at the east end of the school building. Ring the doorbell for admittance and a member of our office staff will open the door for you. If you are dropping off or picking up a student, please use the appropriate sign-in or sign-out sheet. All visitors who will be visiting any other part of the school beyond the front office must sign in using the visitor sheet and must wear a name tag which must be visible at all times.
 

Inclement Weather Procedure

If school is cancelled, postponed, or forced to dismiss early due to inclement weather, we will notify families in the following ways:

1. A school-wide text message will be sent
2. A school-wide email will be sent
3. A notification will be posted on our social media pages

Additionally, parents and guardians should monitor local TV and radio stations as well as local news websites for updates on school closures. Generally, if nearby public schools close due to weather, we will close as well. 
 

Reporting Illness

If your student is sick, please keep them home from school. Absences must be reported to the school office by phone. If your student has been exposed to or tested positive to Covid-19, please report this to the school office.
